The heart of Orange County holds the industry’s premier sand event located at the OC Fairgrounds, the Sand Sports Super Show. This show hosts the top dune and dirt sports exhibitors including side by sides, UTVs, motorcross vehicles, jeeps, trucks and more! Attendees can see the latest UTV vehicles and products to hit the market and the most customized quads and motorcycles around!
VIAIR Highlights Products for Off Road & Sand Sports Use
VIAIR exhibited again this year at the Sand Sports Expo to showcase our line of off road portable compressors, on board air kits, 2-on-2 systems and top of the line accessories! To demonstrate the importance of tire inflation and ease of our products, visitors were able to use the attached VIAIR Tire Inflation gun to air up /down the 31” tire as part of the demo station in our booth. We also featured a fully blacked-out sand car running VIAIR compressors in our booth from Funco Motorsports, a well-known sand vehicle manufacturer for the last 40 years.
Overlanding Vehicle Trends
As overlanding has become more popular in the off road and sand scenes, we noticed an increase in the custom overland booth vehicles. As one of the fastest growing and most popular trends in adventure travel, it’s easy to understand why this would be showcased at the Sand Sports Expo. Since overlanding can be done by multiple means of transportation, we saw a variety of unique overland vehicles including buses, motorcycles, vans and SUV’s. Since the idea is to travel self-reliant, most overlanders stock up on gear needed for their trip including food, water, fuel and equipment. One of the essential tools we recommend to include in this kit is a VIAIR portable compressor that is easy to store, and keeps your tires in tip-top shape while traveling.

Guests were able to walk around the show and visit their favorite sand brands including Funco Motorsports, 4 Wheel Parts, Assault Industries, Maxxis Tires, BFD Off Road Motorsports, CST Performance Suspension, Jeep and more! This show offered willing participants a chance for a demo ride in a UTV around the man-made dirt area towards the back of the show.
Notable vendors at the show included LGE CTS Motorsports, a custom automotive accessories and installation shop located in San Dimas, CA since 1982. They featured their VIAIR-equipped 2018 Ford Expedition at their booth, the “Baja Forged Adventurer” and Hellwig Product’s 2018 F350 Ford Super Duty “The Operator” with custom built UTV rack holding a 2018 Artic Cat on top. Both of these impressive builds were first featured at SEMA 2017 in the Ford booth. Because Hellwig products improve handling and performance for SUV’s and big trucks and have been around for over 65 years, it’s no wonder these products are essentials for vehicles like these! Hellwig kits featuring VIAIR compressors allow for control of the vehicles’ ride height from the comfort of the cab.
