Our company would not be where we’re at today without our dream team! In our Employee Spotlight series, we’ll be bringing you behind the scenes to meet some of our team members.
In this feature, meet our Accounting/Administrative Assistant and Full-Time Mommy, Evelyn! Evelyn is involved with processing orders and talking to our customers on a daily basis. If you have ever purchased compressors from VIAIR, Evelyn has been involved with it.
How long have you been working and what is your role at VIAIR?
I began working at VIAIR early May of 2017. I am the administrative assistant in the Accounting Department. I take care of different tasks, from entering/processing orders for the day to handling Accounts Receivables. Other tasks include partnering with our Sales Team to create customer reports.
You work full-time and are a full-time mom. How do you balance both?
Honestly, I’m still trying to figure this out as I go. Nowadays, the expectation sometimes feels like “women should work as if they don’t have children, and raise children as if they don’t work”. It can be challenging trying to find a balance as a parent. I believe getting up a couple hours early to start your day makes a difference in being able to work, and be a mom, full-time.
What is the most rewarding part about being a mother?
The most rewarding part of being a mother is to watch your little one(s) grow. I have a daughter who turns three in December, and every day is rewarding. I enjoy watching her learn new words and achieving accomplishments she has recently completed. It’s a wonderful experience to go through and I wouldn’t change it for the world!
How did you come up with your daughter’s name?
I came up with my daughter’s name around my junior year of high school. I liked the way the two names came together and decided from there that if I ever had a girl first, I would name her Mia Isabella. ♥
Tell us a funny “guess what my kid did” story:
One in particular was during my first day at home while I was on leave from work.
I was in the kitchen getting cereal prepared for Mia’s breakfast and left the box on the stool. I went to the sink nearby to wash some dishes and it happened… it finally happened. All I heard was a hard sound of something falling over and little balls rolling across the kitchen floor. I looked over and what do you know, Mia had knocked over the cereal and it was all over the floor. I looked at her like “Mia… what happened?” She just kept looking at the mess she had created for mommy to pick up. Parenting, it’s fun but has its messes in life.
What is your favorite thing to do during your time off?
During my time off I enjoy spending quality time with my family, cooking with my husband, working on DIY projects, and photography.
