At this years’ SEMA show, VIAIR celebrated our 20th Year Anniversary by introducing an exclusive “Limited Edition” compressors. We announced that only a select number of units will be available, exclusively for notable builders. Tre 5 Customs was the first to get their hands on these compressors, to be installed in their 1981 GMC Sierra build.
This week, we’re taking you behind the scenes to learn more about Tre 5 Customs and the truck!
Builder Profile: Jeremy Rice of Tre 5 Customs
Jeremy Rice, owner of Tre 5 Customs, has made quite the name for himself in the custom build vehicle industry. You may know of Jeremy of Tre 5 Customs as a former SEMA “Battle of the Builders” contestant. He’s also been featured in automotive media company Auto Revolution’s videos “Roadside” Show on Amazon. Jeremy is a builder who takes great pride in the quality of his builds and spares no expense for these vehicles. For VIAIR’s 2017 SEMA Booth Vehicle, it was no different!
Jeremy discovered his love for working on cars and trucks well before he could even drive them. He got his start by working out of his three-car garage for over six years. Eventually, with a large demand for his builds, his work load required the need for a full time shop – which is how Tre 5 Customs came to be. Currently, you can find Jeremy’s shop located in Peoria, AZ, where he also resides.
Going Behind-the-Scenes of the Build
The 1981 GMC Sierra custom build was a special project for Jeremy, with family values as the driving force behind this project.
Tre 5 Customs built the vehicle for Bradley M. of Select Glass, a specialty glass company based in Arizona. Bradley’s father Brad Sr., owner of Select Glass, wanted to gift this vehicle to his son and employee. Growing up, Bradley’s father would always sell the vehicles his son wanted, so they decided they would build a truck for him to keep.
Because Bradley has worked for the family business since he was young, his father also wanted the truck to be a token of appreciation for years of hard work. That’s why the truck has Select Glass’ touch integrated throughout the build: a flush windshield, flush back glass, and real glass bed floor.
This 1981 GMC Sierra was a complete overhaul with only 4 miles on the odometer when it drove into the VIAIR booth. This unique build had many additional features alongside our Dual 480C Limited Edition compressors. It has a 427 Ci LS based dry sump engine putting out 700hp through a built 4L80E transmission. The inside of the bed was raised and smoothed, with JW Speaker LED headlights, Brothers Trucks LED tail lights, and LED turn signals. And it’s sprayed by Ikandy Paintworks with custom mixed Debeers waterborne paint.
Other notable upgrades of the truck include:
- All American Billet pulley setup
- Custom billet aluminum link bars and control arms by All American Billet and Tre 5 Customs
- 22” American Racing Wheels
- Custom fabricated 3” stainless exhaust with dual Black Widow mufflers
- Classic Performance Products hydro boost brake booster and Baer brakes on all 4 corners
- Slam SS7 air bags
- Slosh Tubz wheel wells
- Dakota Digital Gauges that were custom made and imprinted with the Select Glass and Tre 5 logos.
With the amount of mastery and care put behind the vehicle, it’s no wonder the truck was such a huge hit at our SEMA booth! This truck will be attending more shows in the coming year. Who knows, maybe you’ll see both Select Glass father-son duo at these shows!
The story behind this build will also be covered by AutoRevolution for a special episode of the “Roadside” show on Amazon, airing in January. Other coverage of the truck reveal included Street Trucks and Truckin’ Magazine.
