Lightning struck again this year at the 29th Annual Slamfest Car & Truck Show 2020! This unique experience was showcased at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa, Florida this past weekend! 1,500+ custom cars and trucks flocked from all corners of the country to display at the longest running mini truck and custom car show in the state. Since 1991, Slamfest is still the largest show of its kind in the state of Florida and proceeds benefit many local charities in the Tampa Bay area.
Vehicles at Slamfest have the option to feature indoors or outdoors due to the unique venue of the Florida State Fairgrounds. The protection from the harsh Florida sun or rain encourages attendees to visit from all walks of life. Participant vehicles ranged from lowriders, to mini- and lifted trucks to satisfy the variety of viewers in attendance.
Over 20 years of Mini Madness!
Around 1989, a group of friends with the same love for custom trucks and cars began Mini Madness, the club behind the Slamfest festivities. Although there have been many changes over the last 20 years, one thing hasn’t and that is their passion for customizing vehicles! Club member vehicles from all over the state of Florida range from lowered to lifted trucks and custom sport compact cars to luxury, family vehicles. Graham Hancock, President of Mini Madness and Jonathan Hawkins, in charge of Promotions and Media are the event organizers and hosts for this unique show.
The Heart of Any Air Suspension System
Although VIAIR was unable to attend the show this year, we were glad to support air suspension shows like Slamfest by sponsoring dual packs and goody bags for giveaways to convey our message: “VIAIR is the heart of any air suspension system!” We also provided limited edition decals and posters that explain how air suspension works:
- The compressor acts as the heart, air bags as the lungs, the controller as the brain, and airlines are like veins through the body.
- If your heart fails, the rest of your body cannot function.
- That’s why it’s important to purchase a good quality heart in order to receive a good running system. It’s as simple as that.
Air suspension enthusiasts praise our sleek new head design and 100% Duty Cycle @ 200 PSI which is the perfect solution for upgrading a trunk setup. Read more about our 485C Gen. 2 dual packs in our previous blog post here.
Get Loud at the Audio Contest!
Slamfest is one of a kind because of the amount of thought that goes into their participant games and contests. Attendees can try the Truck Limbo contest to see how low they can go in their bagged ride, and feel the bass in their bones during the Stereo Competition heard from miles away! The burnout competition and musical chairs are an added touch for every enthusiast.
Hand-crafted trophies are handed out to reward top-knotch builds that show off their hard work and dedication! Prizes include Best in Show Truck, Best in Show Car and a special shout out for club favorites.
