In 2007, Relaxing in SoCal was introduced to the automotive community. What started off a smaller show has attracted more and more local enthusiasts over the years. RISC is now one of southern California’s premier automotive events, inviting all types of vehicles to its current show location.
The show had its beginnings at the K&N Engineering facility in Riverside. Soon after, it was moved to Alpine Electronics of America’s headquarters in Torrance. As RISC continued to outgrow its location, the show moved to its current location – Stub Hub Center in Carson, California where the ample space provides plentiful parking for spectators and show goers.
Relaxing in Socal attracts attendees from all over the world. Vehicle attendance is over 500 and growing every year, with a wide variety from minitrucks, to hotrods and baggers, to lowriders.
VIAIR has attended Relaxing in Socal for photography coverage for the past few years. This year was our first with a booth, and it was great to chat with our customers who are heavily involved in the industry and have such a positive impact on the show.
The show had ample attendance despite the looming chance of rain. We were excited to see so many vendors supporting this Southern California show, including: Cooks Tire and Tune, PowerBass, Lexani Wheels and Slam Specialties; and car clubs such as Severed Ties, Acrophobia, No Regrets, Negative Camber, Dropped Addiction, Aftermath, Seductive, and Unforgiven.
The heart of the show is based on helping the community and all show profits are donated to charity. VIAIR always makes sure to donate a Dual Pack in hopes to increase raffle donations to benefit the selected charity! This year, Relaxing in Socal worked with the Venice Beach Skate Park and included a skate ramp for kids to skate on during the show. Food trucks were also in attendance – you can’t go wrong with that!
A special thanks to Juan Treviño, Michael Murray and Relaxed Atmosphere for organizing and executing a great event in our back yard. We look forward to the show next year!
