Last Resort Show, known as Louisiana’s Best Custom Automotive Show, rounded off its 13th year! This one-of-a-kind show features custom cars, trucks & bikes from visitors all around the country. Last Resort allows vehicles of all makes and models to showcase at the famous Louisiana Oil & Gas Park in Jennings, LA. The exclusive venue is known as the birthplace of the Louisiana oil industry that dates back to September 1901. The location runs alongside Interstate 10 making this venue a slam-dunk and there’s even a live alligator exhibit! Last Resort has been nominated for show of the year by multiple publications and we can definitely see why. The roots of the show first began in 2008 as a one-day event with a goal of providing a laid back custom show for the whole family to enjoy. The fun family atmosphere, awesome staff and unique location keeps repeat visitors coming back each year!
3 Days of Fellowship and Fun
This year hosted 400+ vehicles and 1,000+ spectators over the 3 day event. Typically, Last Resort receives approximately 500+ entries but with last minute date changes and weather forecasts, they were still able to rake in a good amount of vehicles to showcase. Attendees enjoy the accessibility to camp next to their custom ride while enjoying fellowship with other enthusiasts. The show is usually hosted earlier in the year but due to recent hurricanes, it was pushed back to December. With the new date change this year, there was an exciting new addition of the Christmas decoration contest for those camping.
Awards Ceremony and Events
The first night of the show is hospitality night for participants and vendors – that means good Louisiana cooking. Rain came the first night and soaked the grounds, but that didn’t hinder a great time, good company and sweet rides! Saturday starting at 10am, games and live music occupied the main stage for contestants to win prizes. The show is closed to the public at 5pm and then the night time festivities begin. Visitors get to enjoy and relax while a variety of food is cooked by various clubs. Vehicles are judged throughout all three days and awards are based upon cleanliness, custom modifications and execution of those modifications. On Sunday the long-awaited awards ceremony begins, including Top 75 awards along with 14 different Best of Class awards. Vehicle entry fees are $50; spectators are $10 per day and 12 and under are free. The money goes back into the event for the following year.
The Heart of any Air Suspension System
As a proud sponsor of Last Resort Show, VIAIR partnered with Last Resort to give away a 444C dual pack. We want to continue to convey our message, “VIAIR is the heart of any air suspension system!” Our limited edition posters and decals break down how an air suspension system operates:
- The compressor acts as the heart, air bags as the lungs, the controller as the brain, and airlines are like veins through the body.
- If your heart fails, the rest of your body cannot function.
- That’s why it’s important to purchase a good quality heart in order to receive a good running system. It’s as simple as that.
VIAIR’s NEW 485C Gen. 2 Dual Pack’s sleek new head design with 100% duty cycle @200 PSI is the perfect solution to upgrade your trunk setup! Read more about our 485C Gen. 2 dual packs in our previous blog post here.
