Lone Star Throwdown (LST) celebrated 10 years of excellence this past weekend! Enthusiasts and builders drove from around the country to Conroe, Texas to view the latest and greatest builds of 2021. Over 2,300 custom vehicles showcased wild trends and custom paint jobs for 25,000+ attendees. Show organizers Lonnie Ford, Todd Hendrex, Jarrod Dunahoo and Phil Cholette came together to put on the world’s best truck show!
Awards and Custom Rides
The first show began in 2012 with only 600 vehicles. Now its grown to include a wide variety of vehicles ranging from mini trucks and motorcycles to lifted monster trucks and UTVs. These one-of-a-kind builds compete for top awards including “Best of Show!” One of the unique events to this show are the featured vehicles that cruise the entirety of the grounds along a winding path. Spectators are surrounded by a sea of custom builds slowly dragging around them.
Winner for Best of Show 2021
Fred Bishop’s pristine VIAIR Equipped 1971 Ford F100 “El Diablo” built by Willie Davis won the coveted “Best of Show!” award, hand-crafted by Philbuilt Designs. He also took home the Airlift Choice award, Mitch Henderson Designs Memorial Award and NC LAURIE Memorial Award! The custom paint job features PPG custom mixed El Diablo Red and Satan Silver, a 5.0 Ford Coyote with Whipple Supercharger, custom dash by Vintage Air, Air Lift Performance management system featuring our dual VIAIR 480C compressors, custom interior by The Recovery Room tucking Intro Wheels and wrapped in Wilwood Brakes.
Winner for Best Paint 2021
Another VIAIR equipped build owned by Frank Rechlin of Ikandy Paintworks and built by Tre5Customs 1963 GMC “Borracho” won “Best Paint”! This custom painted gold on gold powder coated GMC classic tucks Intro Wheels and is suspended with Air Lift Performance management featuring our Dual Platinum VIAIR Gen. 2 compressors.
Stealth Black Dual Pack Giveaway
We also partnered with Lone Star Throwdown to run a giveaway on social media for enthusiasts as a way to give back to our fans! The winner of the 2021 Lone Star Throwdown giveaway who received a Stealth Black 444C Dual Pack is Mighty J. based out of Florida. His build originally began as a stock truck equipped with only an adjustable air ride system. He quickly began to modify the entire truck to ultimately build a complete show vehicle. The truck features an overhauled stock floor body drop tube frame which allows the truck to lay flat on the doors without losing any headroom. After placing the cab back on the frame, he chopped 2″ from the roof pillars. A 180° third door hinge was added to the truck and sits on custom one-off B.A.D. 24×12/24×9 wheels with one-off tube control arms in front and polished stainless link components in the rear. A Winters quick change performance is part of the rear end. Powering the truck is a 502 Big Block Chevy motor equipped with a Weiand 871 roots blower and a 4l80e transmission. Wilwood 16″ rotors with 6 piston calipers at all 4 corners provide ample stopping power. A Pontiac G6 panoramic sunroof and full phantom billet grill round out the look of the vehicle. His plans are to mount the fresh pair of Stealth Black Dual VIAIR 444C compressors with an air tank to check off another step towards completing his chopped and doored 1998 Chevrolet Silverado.

Relaxed Atmosphere celebrates 30 years!
Some of the more prominent car clubs with vehicles represented at the show included: Severed Ties, Relaxed Atmosphere, Forbidden Fantasy, Acrophobia, Negative Camber, Freaks of Nature, Sunset, and Vertically Challenged. Relaxed Atmosphere celebrated their 30-year anniversary by bringing home best club for winning the most awards as a group!
