The World’s Best Truck Show, also known as Lone Star Throwdown is located in Conroe, Texas. This show began modestly in 2012 with only 600 vehicles. 7 years later, this top quality truck show has grown to include 2,000 custom vehicles with builders from around the world! This one-of-a-kind truck show featured air suspension to off-road builds and everything in-between, and compete for the top award, Best of Show! Thanks to the show organizers Lonnie Ford, Todd Hendrex, Jarrod Dunahoo, and Phil Cholette who made sure every detail is in place for this award-winning exposition.
Despite looming bad weather, more than 30,000 attendees traveled from across the globe to make an appearance at the show! A little bit of mud and rain doesn’t put on a damper on this first-rate production.
Full size, classic cars, custom hot rods, mini trucks, and lifted trucks made up the unique assortment of vehicles displayed in 2019. Exhibitors cruised their vehicles around show grounds to show off their newest upgrades on their custom rides, often with friends inside or even hanging out in the back of truck bed!
VIAIR attended Lone Star Throwdown for our third time this year and enjoyed seeing our customers and showing off our exclusive booth vehicle! We got the opportunity to stay connected with those in the scene, and answered questions they had about new products. This year, we were excited to display our New VIAIR Gen. 2 425C dual pack with a 33% duty cycle at 175 PSI and 50% at 100 PSI. These game-changing compressors are part of our Gen. 2 series compressors with sleek new head design elements and upgraded internal components.
Jake McKiddie of notable Phat Phabz in Oklahoma built our booth’s feature vehicle this year. The bright red paint job on this full size Chevrolet Silverado was a huge highlight for our booth and made us stand out in the crowd! Our booth was closer to the entrance this year, which gave those stopping by easier access to our booth and ability to view the vehicles cruising by.
Every year, numerous vendors support this show, including popular brands such as Mini Truckin Takeover, GrinderTV, Kustom Life, Drop Em Wear Clothing, Hammerd Weekend Wear, Mad Gear Apparel, Solo Films DVD, C10 Talk, C10 Nation, and Slosh Tubz, to name a few. Our Authorized Air Suspension Dealers, Phat Phabz, Ekstensive Metal Works, Pro Performance, and Switch Suspension were also at the show featuring and selling VIAIR products. Some of the more prominent car clubs with vehicles represented at the show were: Severed Ties, Relaxed Atmosphere, Forbidden Fantasy, Acrophobia, Negative Camber, Freaks of Nature, Sunset, Vertically Challenged, and Suicide Slabs.

Notable award winners this year include Candice Wheeler 1963 Chevrolet C10 with “Best Female Owned”, Angela Church’s 1940 Ford Truck with “Summit Choice” and “Ladies Choice” and the 1948 Chevy 5 Window Bodywork custom Fabricated Stepped Frame who won “Best of Show.”
Although this year came with all types of weather, there was a good crowd of attendees throughout the weekend! The first day of the show on Friday was overcast and misty all day. With the rain coming down and creating a muddy environment, we provided hay spread over the mud to create a more western look and also create an easy walkway for attendees! Saturday was windy with heavy rain in the morning and then turned into overcast by the afternoon. Sunday provided clear skies but still sunny and cold, true to Texas weather!
We would like to give a special shout out to show promoters Lonnie, Todd, Jarrod, and Phil for organizing and accomplishing another awesome show! This is certainly a one-of-a-kind experience!
