Here at Viair, it’s not all about air suspension or offroad. We enjoy seeing our compressors being used in a variety of applications, whether it’s in agricultural, industrial, medical, or BBQ rib making industries!
Our goal is to give back to the community where we can. We achieved this with our latest community outreach project for students at Random Lake High School in Random Lake, WI. Project GRILL is a program in Sheboygan County that teaches high school students how to design, manufacture and market a product from beginning to end. By learning how to create a custom grill from scratch, students will have an opportunity to explore various manufacturing career options. In this 30-week program, students will be able to gain experience in areas such as project management, design, fabrication and finishing, assembly, quality, and testing.
This year, 13 students are making a 1/3 scale replica of the Big Taste Grill made by Johnsonville Sausage, LLC. Because the grill lid weighs 500 pounds, students at Project GRILL approached us to donate a pneumatic solution for lifting the lid. The students’ grill will use two pneumatic cylinders to assist in lifting the 500 pound lid to expose the grilling area. We are proud to share that the cylinders will be powered by VIAIR’s Quarter Duty OBA compressor kit. As of last month, the students have started to install the compressor kit, and are currently adding safety features to make sure the grill is safe for all users. The students completed this project last week and they did a great job! We look forward to seeing this grill in action!
