VIAIR Manufacturer Defect Warranty Information:
VIAIR Corporation warrants their products, when properly installed and under normal conditions of use – to be free from defects in workmanship and materials for a period of one year from receipt-verified date of purchase. If you are unable to contact your dealer, contact VIAIR directly for repairs or replacement at our option. A valid receipt is required for all requests for warranty inspections and/or repairs.
What Does the Warranty Cover?
Since the warranty on VIAIR Products is a manufacturer defect warranty, the warranty applies only to products that were manufactured in error and do not give the performance that they were designed to produce. Typically, a compressor that has performed well for 8-10 months may not be covered under this warranty since damage may have resulted from use and wear over time. VIAIR cannot be held responsible for when you installed the compressor in relation to when you purchased the compressor, and has no way to determine the amount of time the compressor has been used since purchased.
If You Require Service:
Before attempting to service any VIAIR compressor, check the date on your sales receipt. If the compressor is under ONE YEAR since the date of sale on the receipt, you may be able to send the compressor to VIAIR Corporation for a warranty inspection. To obtain warranty inspection, please fax a copy of your original sales receipt to VIAIR at (949) 585-0188 to the attention of “Warranty Dept.” with your phone number clearly written on the receipt. Call (949) 585-0011 to verify that VIAIR has received your dated proof of purchase. If you have not received a call to provide you with your Returned Goods Authorization number in 24 hours, please call the number above and ask. RGA numbers are valid for 30 days from the date of issue. Please ship the damaged unit to VIAIR as soon as possible by ground service. A tracking number is beneficial to you, to prove delivery of the damaged item. You must package the item well – since VIAIR must accept that the condition of the unit as delivered is the same condition it was in when shipped.
Things that may void your warranty:
- Have you disassembled the compressor, in any way?
- Have you added any sort of oil or lubricant to the compressor?
- Have you left the original intake filter in place since new? If so, is it wet, or crusted with dirt? The air filter must be replaced as needed due to environmental operating conditions.
- If you remove the air filter housing, is there rust visible on the piston assembly inside the front cover? –This may be an indicator that the unit has been pumping more than just air. Internal rust damage is not covered by your warranty.
- Have your wires fused together? If so, this means that you have had high amp draw operation due to smaller gauge wire installation than was needed. This is a possible indication of improper installation, and is not covered by your warranty.
- Have you operated the compressor over its rated pressure, and/or duty cycle?
If you may have voided your warranty, doesn’t mean that VIAIR Corporation isn’t willing to help. Photos of the affected area of the compressor may be needed prior to issuing any return authorization number or selling replacement parts for customer repairs.
Non-warranty work is also available. A $20 inspection fee applies as well as parts, labor and any shipping charges. If you decide to have your repairs performed by VIAIR, the $20 inspection fee will be used towards labor charges. Please keep in mind that sometimes, units are beyond repair – so use your best judgment when asking for non-warranty repairs. Inspection fee must be paid before the inspection can be performed and does not include any freight or shipping charges. |
